Khadijah’s Unbreakable Faith

Feed Qurbani to Refugees in The Holy Cities
Eid al-Adha is just three weeks away.
Thousands of displaced Muslim families left everything to come to Makkah & Madina and be near Allah.
We teamed up with local farms in both cities to deliver fresh Qurbani meat to those who need it most.
For just $200, you can feed up to four displaced families and help revive the Prophetic ﷺ Sunnah.
*While supplies last.
Mary, the daughter of `Imran, was the best among the women (of the world of her time)
Khadija is the best amongst the women of this nation
Have you ever wondered what true love looks like in its most tested form?
Not the kind that flourishes in comfort and ease, but the kind that only grows stronger when faced with unimaginable hardship?
The story of Khadijah (RA) during the boycott of Makkah shows us exactly that, a love so profound that it chose suffering together over comfort apart.
When the Quraysh imposed their brutal boycott against the Muslims, they specifically targeted two tribes: Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib.
The leaders of Quraysh wrote a comprehensive treaty, declaring that nobody would buy from or sell to these two tribes, marry into or from them, or socialize with them.
This was a complete boycott on economic, political, and social levels, designed to break the will of the Muslims and force them to abandon their faith.
This devastating boycott forced the Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib to live outside of Makkah in a small valley for 2-3 years, cut off from all resources and support.
Technically, Khadijah (RA) belonged to neither.
She could have legally remained outside the cordoned-off ghetto where Muslims were confined, supporting her husband from the comfort of her home.
After all, she was a woman who had spent her entire life surrounded by luxury, beauty, and respect.
But that's not who Khadijah (RA) was.
She insisted on joining the Prophet ﷺ in the boycott area, voluntarily subjecting herself to the same brutal conditions that the Muslims were enduring.
This was a complete transformation of her life.
The woman who once commanded caravans of 800 camels now used what little influence she had left to arrange for her nephew Hakeem to secretly smuggle food to the starving Muslims in the boycott area.
The elegant woman who once hosted Makkah's elite, whose home was marked by a green silk pavilion signaling generosity, whose tables were filled with the best foods, now crawled on hands and knees, dirt streaking her face and robes as she pulled at whatever scraps of grass and shrubbery she could find.
All just to fill her hollow stomach and calm the unbearable pangs of starvation.
Her once-soft hands were now calloused, her regal bearing now bent with hunger, yet her spirit remained unbroken.
Incredibly, even when food did make it through the blockade many times through her influence, she would donate her portion to others, her own body wasting away while ensuring others could eat.
The Prophet ﷺ must have felt his heart shatter watching his beloved wife, the woman who had given him everything, now sacrificing the little she had left for the sake of their shared faith.
There's a beautiful narration that shows her extraordinary character even in these dire circumstances.
Jibreel (AS) once met Khadijah (RA) in the form of a man who was asking how people were doing.
When he asked about her condition, even with her lips cracked from thirst, her body weakened by hunger, she did nothing but praise the Prophet ﷺ.
No complaints about her suffering, no mention of her sacrifice, only gratitude and love.
This wasn't just loyalty; this was spiritual elevation of the highest order.
And the hardships weren't just physical.
For a woman who had been revered throughout Makkah as "Tahira" (the Pure One) and "Princess of Quraish," the social persecution must have been particularly jarring.
She couldn't leave her home without facing a barrage of insults, curses, and projectiles from the same people who once sought her favor.
Understand that Khadijah (RA) was around sixty years old, an age when most seek rest and comfort, and yet she faced these brutal trials head-on with extraordinary devotion and faith.
Having never known this type of hardship, she found her body weakened and resources exhausted, but through every pang of hunger and every cruel insult, her heart remained content, never uttering a single complaint.
It was her unwavering love for the Prophet ﷺ and steadfast trust in Allah that transformed her frailty into a shining testament of spiritual strength, selflessness, and noble character.
Reflect On this:
In what ways can you relate to Khadijah’s choice to share in hardship rather than seek comfort alone?
In moments of physical or emotional weakness, where do you turn for strength?

👶 SunnahStories

Lina the partridge, bright and wise, Sang her songs beneath the skies. Feathers glowing, red and brown, In the trees just outside town. She chirped at dawn, her tune was light, Her wings would shimmer in morning’s light. Many would pause and gaze her way, But Lina knew to keep some sway. Her mother once said with warning deep, "Kind words can come like wolves in sheep. Don’t swoon for praise or glowing speech, Not every voice will kindly teach." One morning soon, from grass below, A fowler came with eyes aglow. "Such beauty here, what splendid art! You’ve surely won the forest’s heart!" "With voice like yours and feathers rare, | You should be caged with royal care! A golden perch, a jeweled gate— Not lost in woods with common fate!"* Lina blinked and leaned her head, But something shiny flashed ahead. A trap was laid with wicked aim, Disguised beneath his charming frame. She flapped and soared into the sky, With wisdom sharp and wings held high. "Your praise is sweet, but I am free, No golden cage was made for me!" "My Lord provides both food and flight, I seek no charm that dims my light." The fowler sighed, his net undone, Another bird had seen and run. While Lina perched and softly prayed, "Ya Hafeez, keep me rightly swayed." |
