DAILYREFLECTION
Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness in all matters.
In the caves and forests of Central and South America, vampire bats demonstrate one of nature's most surprising examples of altruistic behavior. When a bat returns to the roost after a successful blood meal, it will often regurgitate food to share with colony members who failed to find nourishment that night. This life-saving generosity extends even to bats that are unrelated, preventing community members from dying of hunger.
The sharing behavior follows no strict reciprocal rules, bats maintain no detailed accounts of who owes what to whom. Instead, they respond to immediate need with immediate generosity. A bat that successfully fed will share with any hungry companion, understanding that survival depends on community welfare rather than individual hoarding. This kindness creates strong social bonds that increase the entire colony's resilience during difficult periods.
What makes this behavior remarkable is that vampire bats can survive only 48-72 hours without feeding. By sharing their precious life-sustaining nourishment, successful foragers literally risk their own survival to ensure others live through another night. This sacrificial kindness has enabled vampire bat colonies to thrive for millions of years in challenging environments where individualistic species struggle to survive.
The Prophet ﷺ taught that Allah loves kindness in all our affairs, and this divine attribute should flow through every interaction with His creation. Like vampire bats that share vital resources without calculating return benefits, true kindness means offering what others need when they need it.

Israel says it will retaliate after an explosive device wounded a soldier in Rafah, adding new strain to the October ceasefire as each side trades blame. Hope is still visible in continued diplomacy, with discussions on the truce’s next phase and hostage related steps continuing despite the tension.
OCHA reports thousands of pallets of aid were offloaded at Gaza crossings in recent days, but access constraints and winter conditions continue to leave many families struggling in makeshift shelter. Even so, sustained deliveries and on the ground distribution by humanitarian teams are keeping food, water, and essential supplies moving to people who need them most.
Gaza Christians marked a subdued Christmas as insecurity and displacement continue to shape daily life across the Strip. A small lift came from global solidarity, including today’s Christmas message spotlighting Gaza’s suffering and urging a path to peace and statehood.
