Allah Loves Those Who Are Trying

Reading time: 1 minute

Surely those who have believed, emigrated, and struggled in the Way of Allah—they can hope for Allah’s mercy. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Baqarah (2:218)

The term “al-mutatahareen” embodies the spirit of those who strive to purify themselves, those who are continually seeking repentance and earnestly trying to return to Allah’s path.

It is a journey, not an overnight transformation.

And the profound truth we must recognize is that Allah loves us in our efforts, sincerity, and perseverance, not because we have achieved the ultimate state of purity.

We’re human and, inevitably, we falter and sin.

However, let’s assess and understand our unique individual patterns of sin.

We should recognize if we are obsessively returning to the same sins repeatedly.

This pattern might indicate trivializing the sin and disregard of Allah’s sight, resulting in an insincere repentance, which distances us further from His love.

Having said that, we mustn’t fall prey to the thought that returning to a sin after sincere repentance negates our repentance or nullifies previous repentance for the same sin.

Remember, Allah knows our hearts, and He knows the sincerity of our repentance.

We must constantly strive to purify ourselves as part of our pursuit of attaining Allah's love.

The mere act of continual striving, sincerity in the effort, and staying in a state of repentance is an endeavor Allah loves.

May this knowledge keep us steadfast, hopeful, and forever in pursuit of Allah’s love.

Until next time, may peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you all.
