Mary, the daughter of `Imran, was the best among the women (of the world of her time)

Khadija is the best amongst the women of this nation

You know what's remarkable about true love?

It's not just about the grand gestures or the perfect moments, it's about how two people support each other through life's most challenging transitions.

The relationship between Khadijah (RA) and the Prophet ﷺ exemplifies this in ways that still inspire us today.

Khadijah's (RA) love for the Prophet ﷺ was so deep that it manifested in beautiful ways toward anyone who had helped or loved him.

When she met Haleema Saadiya, the woman who had nursed the Prophet ﷺ as a child, she gifted her 40 sheep and a camel.

This wasn't just generosity, it was a love for the people who had shaped her husband's life.

The Prophet ﷺ would later reciprocate this kindness, a touching story we'll explore in more detail later.

Their life together was truly blessed.

The Prophet ﷺ had earned immense respect throughout Makkah, not just through his marriage to Khadijah (RA), but through his character and wisdom.

One significant incident that demonstrated his elevated status occurred when the tribes fought over the placement of the Black Stone in the Ka'bah.

They agreed that whoever walked through the doors next would place the stone, and it was the Prophet ﷺ who entered.

The people exclaimed, "It's the trustworthy one, the truthful one, we are pleased."

The Prophet ﷺ then devised a brilliant solution: he had all the tribes place the Black Stone in a cloth and lift it together, resolving the dispute without favoring any particular tribe.

This incident, along with his marriage to Khadijah (RA), solidified his position among Makkah's elite.

By his late 30s, the Prophet ﷺ had achieved everything one could want in worldly terms: he was respected throughout Makkah, known as a peacemaker, had a beautiful family, and occupied a position of honor in society.

They were essentially royalty in their community.

Then something remarkable began to happen.

The Prophet ﷺ started experiencing true dreams, visions that would come to pass exactly as he saw them.

For six months, these dreams continued, and he would sometimes share them with his family.

He began to hear rocks and trees greeting him with salam, with one particular rock always acknowledging him, a rock he would recognize even years later.

After these six months, Allah placed in the Prophet's ﷺ heart a love for seclusion.

He began to pray alone, worship in an Abrahamic way, and seek long periods of silence.

He was drawn specifically to the cave of Hira, a remarkable place that forces one to face the Ka'bah.

This wasn't a casual retreat; it required a several-hour climb up the mountain, and he would sometimes stay there for days or weeks at a time.

Here's where Khadijah's (RA) support becomes truly impressive.

Some women began to mock her, saying, "You've given him everything and done so much for him. What kind of argument are you having that he goes to a mountain for days at a time?"

But Khadijah (RA) ignored these naysayers and actively supported her husband's spiritual journey.

At the age of 54 or 55, she would climb that mountain herself to bring food and supplies to the Prophet ﷺ, ensuring he could focus on his worship without interruption.

Then came the moment that would change everything.

Jibreel (AS) appeared to the Prophet ﷺ in the cave.

The Prophet ﷺ made the long journey, running down the mountain, and went straight to Khadijah (RA).

He could have gone to Abu Bakr, his best friend; Abu Talib, his father figure; or Hamza, his uncle and close friend.

But he chose Khadijah (RA), knowing that no one would reassure and support him like she could.

The Prophet ﷺ burst into their home, sweating and shaking, saying, "Cover me, cover me, hold me, embrace me."

Khadijah (RA) didn't ask questions; she simply held him, comforted him, and waited for him to speak.

When he finally did, he expressed his fear: "Oh, Khadijah, what is wrong with me? I'm worried about myself. The one whom I saw in my sleep came to me."

He was concerned that he might be possessed or losing his mind.

In that moment, Khadijah (RA) had the power to make or break him.

Her response would be crucial not just for their relationship, but for the future of Islam itself.

As the Prophet ﷺ needed support and comfort for his future mission,

Allah had chosen for him a woman who would provide exactly that.

It shows us that behind every truly great man is a woman whose strength shapes his journey.

Even the greatest man of all time relied on the comfort and support of his wife.

We apologize if the article are getting too long.

Khadijah’s (RA) story is so deeply intertwined with the Prophet ﷺ’s life that it’s hard to leave anything out. Her role was foundational, and every detail feels important.

Tomorrow, we’ll explore Khadijah’s (RA) powerful response and the unwavering role she played during the Prophet’s ﷺ most uncertain time.

Reflect On this:

  1. In what ways are you willing to “climb the mountain”, literally or figuratively, to nurture someone you care about?

  2. How has supporting another’s spiritual or personal journey deepened your own faith and character?

👶 SunnahStories

Zari the cat, with her silken white fur,

Slept in the sun where the jasmine would stir.

Fed by the hands of the kind and devout,

She purred with delight as they moved in and out.

But up on the fence and high in the tree,

Lived Qasim the crow, loud and carefree.

He swooped down quick to snatch a crumb,

Then cawed with laughter and flapped his thumb.

Zari would frown with her tail held tight,

"Such savage ways! Not proper, not right!"

"No place to rest, no bowl of food—

He’s wild, unkempt, and oh so rude!"

Yet each new day, she watched him glide,

With spark in his eyes and wings open wide.

He found his share, he never went dry—

While she waited still with a wondering sigh.

"Why is he free, while I must wait?

Why do I feel this heavy weight?"

"I should be happy, yet I feel low,

Every time I see that crow."

At last, she leapt from her shaded throne,

And met the crow on a branch alone.

"You live so wild, so out of grace—

How do you smile in such a place?"

Qasim just bowed and softly said,

"Each day, my sister, I’m freely fed."

"You rest in shade, I fly through air,

Yet Allah gives to both with care."

"I look at you and say, SubhanAllah,

While you look at me with envy and flaw."

"Let go, dear Zari, of your heavy sigh,

And thank the One who hears your cry."

She blinked, then sighed, and bowed her head,

"Astaghfirullah," was all she said.

She returned once more to her jasmine seat,

With lighter heart and grateful feet.

Now Zari purrs and lifts her eyes,

Watching the crow in morning skies.

She no longer longs to have his wings—

She’s content with her qadar and all Allah brings.
