DAILYREFLECTION

❝

O Allah, bless my people in their early mornings.

That du'a was made for you.

You are one of the people he ﷺ meant. So is everyone who prayed Fajr this morning.

The man who reported it, Sakhr, was a merchant. He sent his goods out at the start of each day, and his wealth grew.

He took the blessing to work.

The Prophet ﷺ guarded this hour too. After Fajr, he would sit where he had prayed until the sun came up.

And he taught his Companions words for when the morning arrives:

Allahumma bika asbahna, wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namutu, wa ilaykal-masir.

O Allah, by You we enter the morning and the evening, by You we live and die, and to You is the return.

Ten seconds, and you've entrusted your day to Allah before anyone else needs you.

Right now, this hour is easy to reach. Fajr comes about two hours later than it did in summer, and the sun rises around seven.

The blessed hour sits right where your day already begins.

Give it what matters most.

  1. Stay where you prayed for a few minutes and say the morning du'a.

  2. Give the first hour to what matters most to you, whether that's a page of Qur'an or breakfast with your kids.

  3. Send the message you've been putting off, the way Sakhr sent out his goods.

  4. Keep your phone face down until it's done.

First step: Monday after Fajr, do one thing you would normally leave until the afternoon.

The Prophet ﷺ asked Allah to bless your mornings. This week, show up for that blessing.

Reflect on this: What would change in my week if what matters most came first?
