DAILYREFLECTION
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it.
How many leaves came down on your street this week?
A single tree can drop thousands. You'd lose count by lunch.
The gold you see now was in the leaf all summer, hidden under chlorophyll, the green that turns sunlight into food.
As the days shorten, the tree stops making green. The yellow and orange show through, and the reds are made fresh.
Then, by Allah's design, the tree draws about half the nitrogen and phosphorus in its leaves back into itself.
It seals the spot where the leaf was joined, and the leaf falls with its work done.
The Prophet ﷺ once struck a tree of dry leaves with his staff, and the leaves came down. He ﷺ said four words make a servant's sins fall the same way: Alhamdulillah, SubhanAllah, la ilaha illa Allah, Allahu akbar.
What if every falling leaf became a reminder?
Try it as an experiment on your next walk. Each time a leaf drops in front of you, say one of the four words, and count how many before you arrive.
And the thing you keep holding on to, a grudge or a sin you go back to? Ask Allah to take it, the way the tree let its leaves go.
First step: the next time you step outside today, stop under the nearest tree and say the four words before you walk on.
Allah knows every leaf that falls on your street. He hears every word you say beneath them too.
Reflect on this: What am I holding on to that I'd be better off letting fall?
